What do you do at Prysmian?

I’m currently working as an Internal Auditor for Prysmian Group, based in our HQ in Milan, Italy.

Stimulating : As an Internal Auditor, I act as the Group’s messenger, going to the different entities to understand their local practices and share best practices. We get involved in various types of audit, from financial, to operational, to compliance. We therefore interact with all the departments within the organisation and have to be at the top of our game, in order to provide sound advice to the various business functions.

Hands-on : You have to really ‘get your hands dirty’ and be deeply engaged with your role at Prysmian, especially as a graduate. With an academic background in Finance, I have been assigned tasks related to R&D and Operations, of which I had no prior knowledge!

This offers a lot of opportunities for ‘learning by doing’, stretching your capabilities and understanding of the business.
 

Exposure : My current role requires me to travel frequently.

Such a role gives us the opportunity to meet new colleagues from around the globe and expand our network.

We also get to learn local work cultures, practices and business challenges. At times, we even get to present our ideas to the C-suite!

What do you like most about Prysmian?

International exposure. As a graduate from the ASEAN region, I have had the chance not just to work, but also to live in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. And this in my first year alone! And now, I’m based in Italy. It’s no doubt a very enriching experience that not many employers offer young candidates.

What is the best thing about your job?

All the factors above have contributed to make what I’ve done very satisfying.
